#TarotTuesday – Five of Pentacles

Welcome to another Tarot Tuesday!

If you are just joining me, let me explain the inspiration to begin these posts. In Texas, and all across the country, Taco Tuesday is a popular day when Tacos are usually 99 cents. So, I had the inspiration, or Angel nudge as I like to think of it, to create a Tarot Tuesday. Each Tuesday I will post a different Tarot card and give its meaning. I pray and ask for the right card that will bring a universal message.

I created a short video to demonstrate how I pull the card for the posts. If you’re interested, here’s a LINK.

Last week we had an encouraging and uplifting card, but not so much this week. Today I drew the FIVE OF PENTACLES.

The keywords for this card are: Financial loss, poverty, lack mindset, isolation, and worry.

You have hit hard times, especially when it comes to your work, career, finances, and material possessions. You may have recently lost your job, your home, or your financial security. You no longer feel safe because it has all been stripped away from you in one blow. The upside is that this is a Minor Arcana card with temporary effects (rather than a Major Arcana card which has a longer-term impact). This, too, shall pass.

In this time of need, the Five of Pentacles indicates that you feel isolated and alone. Just like the two people in the card, you feel as if you have been left in the cold. You may wonder, “Why is no-one coming to help me!?” It may appear as if no one cares anymore. However, since the windows in the church are lit up, help is nearby; but you are too focused on your problems to notice. You may be waiting for someone to come and help you when really, you need to be proactive and ask for help. You need to swallow your pride or let go of your fear of rejection and reach out. People are here to support you. Find them and let them know you need them.

At times, the Five of Pentacles highlights a ‘lack mindset’. You are sabotaging your ability to create abundance because you only focus on what you lack. All you can see is what is going wrong. To shift this energy, look for evidence of what you do have, even if it’s very small or seemingly insignificant, and express your gratitude for those blessings in your life. Over time, the positive aspects will continue to grow and soon, ‘lack’ and ‘not having’ will be a thing of the past.

Similarly, the Five of Pentacles suggests that you fear you don’t have ‘enough’ or you may lose something important to you – even if it hasn’t happened yet or is unlikely. For example, you may live in fear that you will lose your job and will be left in the streets with no home and no support. If you stay focused on all the negative things that might happen, then be careful, because your manifesting powers may start to create the outcomes that you don’t want. Instead, redirect your attention to what you have now and what you want in the future, so your manifesting powers get used for good.

Wow! This card really hits home with the current global economic situation due to COVID-19. Things everywhere continue to grow increasingly gloomier. The part about it that I love is that it shows to be temporary and this too shall pass. Will life ever return to the way we knew it before? Who knows? I do know we must stay focused on the positive, give thanks for what we have, and be willing to help others. Tell me how this card affects you.

Thank you for joining me! See you next Tuesday for another inspiring message from the Universe via the Tarot Cards!

As always, I use the Rider-Waite Radiance deck and BiddyTarot.com for interpretations.

  1. What a reading! It truly is a time of sorrow for so so many people. The stories from those we love and those we don’t know are heartbreaking and overwhelming. We are in a time of change, unlike anything we’ve seen before. But, through it all, I see hope. People are growing more generous, kind, and loving. I see it in my neighborhood and across the world. We will emerge stronger through this time of trial…as you’ve expressed beautifully. ♥

    1. They say everything happens for a reason, Gwen, and if the reason for this horrible pandemic is to bring us closer together, then it serves a purpose. All of us need to look for and focus on the positive, not the negative! Like you said, if we look, we can see acts of kindness everywhere! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment! Hugs!

    1. I know, Erika! The Universe amazes and humbles me! Like you, I am not worried or fearful. Whatever will happen will happen and I will either survive or not. Either way is okay. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by!

      1. Right, and because we think that way our chances “to survive” are multiply higher since the worry factor is not weakening us. But as you said, what will be will be… Still, I do my best to avoid contact to others in orer to keep them safe.
        Always a pleasure, Jan 😊

  2. You make a very good point, Robbie. We are spoiled and ill-equipped to handle shortages and restrictions. But, we can find a strength we don’t know we have and this is a great opportunity to get closer to Spirit and really listen for REAL guidance! Thank you for stopping by! Hugs!

  3. This is a very appropriate card for the current times, Jan. I thought that as I read even before I got to your thoughts at the end of the post. Everything does pass, it is just a question of how long? Modern people are less well equipped to survive than people during previous plagues in many ways because we are all so dependent on a working “system”.

  4. Although I know everything happening will pass its hard not to worry with all the negative messages we are receiving. We can’t wait for someone to lead us or save us, but we can help each other. Perfect card for what we are all going through.

    1. You are SO right, Denise! We can’t wait for our crippled government to save us. That isn’t going to happen. But, this is the perfect time to do meditations and introspection and get closer to Spirit to listen for messages that will really guide us! Thank you for stopping by. A hug from my heart to yours!

  5. Wow. This card is spot on with what’s happening in our country and the world right now. The stock market is plummeting, businesses are closing, and people are losing their jobs. I don’t know if things will ever be the same again, but I do feel hopeful and positive about the future. Stay safe and healthy, my friend. ❤

    1. I agree, Vashti. I could not have orchestrated this card if I’d tried. I love the messages the Universe brings when we need it. And there is the positive aspect of it; as my sister said above, we need to stay positive and stay busy! Thank you for stopping by! Hugs!

  6. Wow and Wow! Right on the money. One thought I had as I read this is that there’s a lot people can do to help themselves instead of sitting around waiting. Some are sewing masks, some feeding truck drivers because, although they’re running harder than ever to deliver, they can’t get into truck stops to eat, use the restrooms, or to rest. So a lot of people are cooking meals and taking them out to the truckers. We need to stop worrying and get busy. Check on seniors living alone and make sure they have the basics. There’s a lot we can do. When you’re busy helping you forget to worry. I desperately pray that this doesn’t drag on for such a long time. Yes, we’re going to get through this. It’s no different from what people faced in wartime when WWII dragged on and things were limited. I feel very positive and hopeful. Be kind. Be careful. Be helpful. Love you, Sister! There is a light at the end of the tunnel but we’re not there yet.

    1. Thank you for such an upbeat positive post, sister! You are SO right. We need to find ways to keep our minds and hands busy. Sitting around and worrying is NOT the answer. Your suggestions are right on the target!! I love you!

  7. Uncannily accurate, as always. I’ve always had a tendency to fear the worst, and that in itself worries me in case I make it happen. The trouble is, the more you tell yourself not to think about something, the more your mind will rebel and make you think about it! I still haven’t found my way around that one.

    1. Hi, Annabelle. I would like to suggest that you try some guided meditations to help gain control of those fearful thoughts. There are some great ones on YouTube. One of my favorites is Jason Stephenson. Take a look and I hope you find what you need to feel at peace in chaos! Thanks for stopping by!

  8. As soon as I started reading your post, I thought of the current situation. I’m now working remotely from home, with all non-life-sustaining businesses on mandatory lockdown in my state. Six counties have shelter in place orders which surely brings on that sense of isolation, especially for those who live alone. Fortunately, my county has yet to have that order, so DH and I can still get out and walk around.

At least we know this will eventually pass. It’s just hanging tough and putting up with setbacks until that happens. How interesting that this card surfaced now!

    1. We go into mandatory lockdown as of midnight tonight, Mae. I am trying to stay focused on any and everything positive because I also believe this will eventually pass. But, I also believe our way of life as we’ve known it is forever altered – and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I keep being reminded of the saying, “Before change comes great chaos.” We are definitely in great chaos. There will be a global meditation on April 4th at 10:45 PM CST that I hope everyone who is of like-mind will participate in. Together we can raise the consciousness of the planet! Hugs to you and DH!

      1. Stay safe and well, my friend. These are scary, unprecedented times, but like you I believe they must pass.
Thanks for the heads up on the global meditation. I doubt I will be up that late (I rarely am), but I do plan to meditate more to bring a sense of peace in this crazy mess!

  9. As I read thru this card’s meaning, I immediately thought of the virus that’s sweeping our world. Scary and unsure times we are living in. Things change day to day. I do like the positive spin on it and feel that’s a necessary element for all to remember. Thank you for sharing, Jan. I truly look forward to these posts each week. ❤

    1. Thank you, Mar! I’m so glad you enjoy the Tarot Tuesdays! And yes, we must always look for a positive in a negative situation. My late husband, Rick, taught me that. It was his biggest lesson while in prison. He made up his mind to be and do only positive even though he was entrenched in a very negative situation. And as a result, he created many amazing and beautiful things that I treasure today, like his poetry book, Discovery! 🙂 A little shameless promotion, there. 🙂 We need to all be the light in the darkness because if we can shine enough light, the darkness will shrink back into the shadows where it belongs! Hugs, sweet lady!

  10. This does fit perfectly with our global situation, Jan. As someone with anxiety, it’s hard to silence the fear and worry, but I am not a passive accepter of my situation. I speak up when I’m feeling overwhelmed and reach out to those who tend to help me silence that negative voice in my head.

Being stuck in the house is even more difficult because I enjoy helping others. It’s what brings me the most happiness, so I’m trying to find ways of doing so from home.

I do believe this is temporary. And I prefer to believe that our Universe is sending us a message to refocus our priorities and take better care of ourselves and the people around us. Be the light in the church window.

    1. Yes, Yvette! When you said, “Be the light in the church window,” I got chills – confirmation. That is exactly what we are being called on to do. As I mentioned above, we must focus on positive as darkness cannot exist where there is light. I love your giving and loving spirit, Yvette! Hugs!

  11. I used to play piano. My style could be summed up as; Treble at the bar. 🙂

My tarot cards are 40 years old, and I still use them. Unfortunately, most of the books I purchased about how to read the cards are (as my mother used to say) clear as mud. I like your explanations.

  12. Wow this is totally opposite of how I am feeling I had decided to give thanks and express my gratitude daily since February 1 and have been doing so, so I feel blessed and I have no worry no fear. However I see most of the people around me are embodying this card as you have described, including one of my best friends who I try to ease her worries on yesterday . Everyone stay safe, prayer always, gratitude always 🙏🏾💜🦋

    1. You are absolutely right, butterflythomas, to stay positive and uplift others around you! And that is what I love about the Tarot cards. Even a so-called negative card has a positive side. For instance this statement from above, “If you stay focused on all the negative things that might happen, then be careful, because your manifesting powers may start to create the outcomes that you don’t want. Instead, redirect your attention to what you have now and what you want in the future, so your manifesting powers get used for good.” Positive can turn around a negative and that is exactly what we are being called on to do in the face of this crisis! Thank you for keeping the light burning. I’m right beside you!
