A powerful and beautiful meditation. Love for yourself is as important as love for others.

As always, I am again amazed by the tarot cards and their message for us this week.

The swords in the tarot deck represent the mind or intellect. So, the King of Swords is the ultimate representation of clear, intelligent thinking. He also has the power to achieve whatever he sets his mind to. He is a powerful leader and one that can move forward with no hesitation. When this card appears in a Tarot reading, you are in your power, ruling from a place of authority and respect. You stand firm in your truth and express yourself with deep conviction. As a result, others pay attention to what you have to say. Sometimes the King of Swords may indicate the need to seek help from an expert.

The Seven of Swords points out that you need to be strategic in what you do. You know you cannot do everything at once – nor should you. Instead, you must prioritize what’s important to you and direct your focus and attention on the few tasks that will move you closer to your goals. It’s the 80-20 rule: 20% of your work will account for 80% of your results, so focus on the 20%. You may be able to accept some responsibilities or duties, but not all of them. The Seven of Swords could also imply that you are trying to escape from a situation that is not working for you anymore rather than dealing with it head-on. You may attempt to run away from commitment, responsibility, hard work, or love. You may procrastinate, letting problems slip and become worse because you do not want to deal with them. Sometimes you just have to face what has to be faced.

We had The Moon card recently and you may remember that it deals with mystery or secrets, things that are unknown or cannot be seen. The position where it sits in this reading indicates that your clear thinking can easily get muddied by not knowing all the facts. Things are not always as they seem, so this card advises you to listen to and trust your intuition so you can see beyond what is in front of you. Let go of your conscious mental blocks or negative self-talk and allow your intuition to guide you. Your dreams, intuitions, and inner guidance lead you forward toward higher levels of understanding if you listen and use your judgment to help interpret the messages of the subconscious.

MY TAKEAWAY:

The week starts out with clear and intelligent thinking with the power to make things happen, but can quickly dissolve into being overwhelmed by having too much to do and not knowing all the facts about a situation. Trust your inner guidance and intuition. It will never steer you wrong!

I know we have had this same dragon card recently, but it is what turned up, so I have to trust that this is what we need for the week.

**On a side note, one of my sisters passed away this week. She was 84 and had been in ill health for the past seveeral years. She and I were not close but she is the first of my siblings to pass away. If you are of a mind to do so, say a prayer or send positive thoughts to her children and grandchildren.**

Happy Monday, everyone. I am thrilled to report that I am about 98% recovered from my tangle with COVID, thank goodness!! I appreciate all the well-wishes, prayers, and positive vibes you sent my way. I loved this quote from William Faulkner. It made me pause and think for a minute.

A beautiful meditation to help jumpstart the day!

The Tarot reading for this week is hopeful and solid.

The keywords for The Sun from the Major Arcana are: Positivity, fun, warmth, success, and vitality. You don’t know what a welcome sight this card is! If you are going through a difficult time (I certainly have been), The Sun brings you the message you have been waiting for: that things will get better, a lot better! Hallelujah! The Sun connects you to your power base – not fear-driven, egotistical power, but the abundant, inner energy radiating through you right now. You’ll sense it in your Solar Plexus chakra, calling you to express yourself authentically and be fully present in the world around you.

The King of Cups represents a balance of emotions, creativity, and the unconscious. When this card turns up in a Tarot reading, you have gained control of your feelings and can accept them without allowing them to get the better of you. Even when life throws you a curveball, you can draw on your emotional maturity and stability to help you navigate these challenges. You don’t let things get to you, and you steer clear of the drama, instead choosing an emotionally balanced and calm approach.

The Nine of Pentacles speaks of financial independence. The woman in this card has created a luxurious lifestyle by her own actions and efforts. She encourages you to do the same – to create abundance and independence so that you can take care of yourself in the long term. Invest wisely and seek financial advice to make the most of your wealth. Don’t rely on others to support you; this Nine is an independent woman. While the suit of Pentacles typically focuses on material wealth and gain, this card also suggests that you are in harmony with the environment around you. You appreciate the beauty and abundance found in nature, and you can harness this high-vibe energy to bring pleasure into your life.

My Takeaway:

What a welcome sight, these cards are. From the sun shining and bringing new vitality and creativity, to the emotionally balanced King of Cups and the secure and independent woman, this is a super positive reading and it reflects what I feel inside. I do not mean to downplay COVID. It’s a horrible nasty virus and it knocked me down hard. But, as the old saying goes, “it’s not how many times you get knocked down, it’s how you choose to get back up.”

I’d love to hear your thoughts on these cards today and hope they bring a ray of sunshine to your week!

There is nothing I can say about this Dragon Card, except that it is gorgeous!

Hello, November! This year is flying past. The theme for this week’s post is all about using our full potential. My thanks to Author, Erika Kind for the quote for the week.

The meditation today truly inspired me and I hope it will have the same effect on you. Let’s unlock our highest potential!

The reading for the week comes from the Tarot Cards and when I was pulling them, an extra one popped out, so I am going with it.

The Page of Swords is an action card and it is sitting in the past position. It is full of enthusiasm and passion. Perhaps you started a new project full of anticipation and excitement. The challenge with this card is to keep up the momentum. The Page of Swords often emerges when you are exploring a new way of thinking – a new idea, a new perspective, new knowledge, or a new technique. I don’t know about you, but with all of the craziness around the world, a new perspective is often necessary for peace of mind.

Next, in the present position, The Two of Wands takes a spark of inspiration and turns it into a clear action plan. It is the exact opposite of the sword in that it is contemplation rather than action. You look to the future and take in all possibilities before taking a step. It is more about long-term goals. The Twos in Tarot often represent decisions of some sort. With this two, you may make a choice between sticking with what you know or taking a risk.

In the future position, we have the Five and Seven of Cups. The Five of Cups can often indicate the feeling of disappointment or failure. But at the same time, is telling us to look away from what we might consider to be a failure and instead focus on new possibilities or opportunities. We’ve had the Seven of Cups before, and you may remember that symbolizes endless choices and possibilities. There is so much to choose from, yet it comes with a warning of caution in your decision. Make wise choices. Often, the Seven of Cups can be a sign of wishful thinking and projecting into the future about what you would like to create, rather than taking action here in the present to make it happen. Now is a time to focus on the one thing that will move you closer to your goal; resist the temptation to get side-tracked with other ideas as they arise. If need be, note your ideas as they come up, but stay focused on the one thing you’re doing.

My Takeaway:

With fresh enthusiasm and passion for a project, we are asked to look at the long-term goals, or the bigger picture before taking any action. At the same time, we are cautioned not to focus on what we might perceive to be failures or disappointment but, instead, look at the opportunities presented to us and make wise choices and unlock our highest potential. Make it a great week!

Another gorgeous Dragon Card message for the week!

Welcome to the start of a new week!

Rumi Quote Created by Jan Sikes in Canva

As I talked about last week, I am going to choose meditations that help to activate our seven Chakras. Last week we focused on the Root Chakra. This week it’s the Sacral Chakra. It is located in the area between the belly button and the pelvic bone, and is the chakra related to our emotions, sexuality and creativity. Some simple ways to help strengthen this chakra is to wear the color orange, carry a Carnelian stone and say any of these simple affirmations: “I allow my creativity to flow through me. I embrace vibrant sexuality. My emotions are free flowing and balanced.” And now for our short meditation to help clear and activate this chakra.

When I drew the cards for our Tarot Reading this week, I literally gasped. I swear you cannot make this stuff up. I got chills from head to toe. A big thing to note from these cards is how powerful they are. Each of these cards is from the Major Arcana, which deals with our big life and karmic lessons.

See what I mean? When I drew The Lovers card after doing the Sacral Chakra Meditation, I was blown away. Folks, I believe in the power of the Universe and when things like this happen, it only serves to reinforce that belief. In its purest form, the Lovers card represents conscious connections and meaningful relationships. It is a card of open communication and raw honesty, but can also represent getting clear about your values and beliefs. At its heart, the Lovers is about choice. The choice about who you want to be in this lifetime, how you connect with others and on what level, and about what you will and won’t stand for. To make good choices, you need to be clear about your personal beliefs and values – and stay true to them. The Hermit card follows with the encouragement to take a break from everyday life, draw your energy and attention inward, and find the answers you seek, deep within your soul. The Hermit often appears when you are at a pivotal point in your life and considering a new direction. Through meditation, contemplation, and self-examination, you may begin to re-evaluate your personal goals and change your overall course. You will look at your life with a deeper, more spiritual understanding and a few of your priorities will change as a result. The Hermit also represents the desire to turn away from a consumerist or materialistic society to focus on your inner world. The Temperance card is all about balance – give and take, yin and yang, up and down. It encourages patience and moderation. This card calls on you to remain calm, even when life feels stressful or frantic. Maintain an even temperament and manage your emotions (again a direct connection with the Sacral Chakra). Be the peacekeeper. This Tarot card is about blending, mixing, and combining diverse elements in a way that creates something new and even more valuable than its separate parts.

So, an overall look at these cards gives us the inspiration to be open and honest in our communications (especially with ourselves), look inward and be introspective, and do all of this with balance, patience and inner calm.

Whew!

Make it a great week folks. We have a powerful opportunity!

Happy Monday and happy start to a new week!

And now for our Tarot Reading for the upcoming week.

There is a lot of energy floating around out there this week, starting with the Knight of Wands. As you can see just from the horse’s demeanor, he is raring to go! This card indicates energy, passion, motivation, and enthusiasm. Sounds like a good start to me. However, be mindful that the Knight of Wands can express himself as an ‘act first, think later’ type of person. In your pursuit of action, you may be impulsive and impatient, expecting everything to be done yesterday. Me? Never! 🙂 The Page of Swords is all about new ideas, a thirst for knowledge, or new ways of communicating. Along with the Knight of Wands, the Page of Swords is also a huge energy and passion card. When this card shows up, you may be bursting at the seams with new ideas or plans for the future. And, as Swords can relate to communication, it can suggest that you are finding a new way to express yourself and are excited to try it out. Then, the Queen of Cups reins it all in with her beautiful sense of calm and balance. In this reading, she is encouraging you to take the energy of these new ideas, projects, or new ways of thinking and find a flow. You are being asked to trust your intuition and pay attention to your feelings and emotions. Lead with your heart, not your head. Be open to receive the intuitive messages flowing to you, be it through your dreams, meditation or visualization. And ‘feel the feels’, even if those feelings are tricky or challenging. You are stronger than you know. Wow! I don’t know about you, but this reading really resonates with me. I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for joining us for another positive start to a new week!

Welcome to another start to a new work week. It is my hope that you find some inspiration to lift you as you begin. I loved these words of wisdom from Sue Vincent. They struck a chord with me.

Our meditation this week is all about the practice of gratitude. Enjoy!

And now for our message from the Tarot cards for the upcoming week.

Tarot Card reading by Jan Sikes for week of April 19, 2021.
Tarot Card Reading by Jan Sikes 4-19-21

The King of Swords is a powerfully energetic card, as are the three cards which follow him. The suit of Swords represents the intellect. Being the highest card in the suit, the King is a symbol of intellectual power and authority and has the courage and acumen to achieve all that he desires. He indicates the opportunity for clarity and an objective point of view. He can also represent a person of authority that you might call on for expert advice.

The Wands are representative of our spirituality, intuition and creativity. The Ace is always some new beginning, new idea, new inspiration or new project. Just look at the force with which the hand is protruding through the cloud to bring an enlightened vision or idea. The Eight of Wands is all about movement. There is no standing still! It is a dynamic high-energy card pushing you forward with the idea the Ace brings. You can expect to be very busy. 🙂 Determine what you want to manifest and then align all of your resources and energy to focus on that singular goal. Remove all distractions and devote yourself to the task with total concentration, determination and will. This experience can be highly productive, allowing you to accomplish a lot in a short time.

There you go! Make this week productive, positive and filled with clarity!

See you next week!

Welcome to another Monday, and another opportunity to begin your week on a positive vibration.

Continuing with Part 2 of the Self-Love Meditation series, today’s focus is on gratitude. Enjoy!

And now on to our Tarot Reading for the week.

The Six of Cups is one of my favorite feel-good cards. The cups are overflowing with flowers and sharing one with someone else is such a wonderful thing to do. It reflects innocence of childhood and joy. It can also represent revisiting someone from your childhood. I just see it is a benevolent card. The Nine of Pentacles is a gorgeous card and exudes abundance, self-sufficiency and financial independence. It can represent a reward for hard work. While the suit of Pentacles typically focuses on material wealth and gain, this card also suggests that you are in harmony with the environment around you. You appreciate the beauty and abundance found in nature, and you can harness this high-vibe energy to bring pleasure into your life. You may enjoy gardening or floristry, or you may just like to pass your time in the beauty of nature with picnics or walks in the park. The Strength card is pretty self-explanatory. It represents strength, determination, and power. But it speaks to an inner strength, not an outer. You are fueled by your inner strength, personal power, strong will and determination. You can control a situation without excessive, outward force. No one knows it’s you calling the shots. It looks to be a powerful week ahead, incorporating benevolence and sharing, having gratitude for your abundance of blessings in life and strength to do whatever needs doing.

I’d love to hear from you! Thoughts?

Monday #Meditation #Motivation #TarotReading

Welcome back for another Monday post filled with positive energy and motivation. I’m sharing with you another quote from Sue Vincent.

And now for a short meditation to start your day filled with positive energy!

Such beautiful cards this week! The Four of Wands is exactly what it appears to be – a celebration. Ironically, I just returned from a music festival (my first in almost a full year). It was so great! I hope you’ve had or are looking forward to some sort of celebration as well. We had an Ace last week, so apparently new ideas are flying around everywhere. The Ace of Pentacles represents a new financial or career opportunity, abundance and manifestation. That’s something we can all use. On a personal level, I was able to get one of my books in Kevin Costner’s hand at the music festival, so maybe that will turn into some sort of opportunity. Who knows? All I know is that it is always up to us to make the effort in life. What happens after that is out of our control. The Four of Cups represents contemplation, meditation, reevaluation or possibly apathy. Three cups sit in front of the man with another being offered. Will you take the opportunity or let it pass? It’s always a choice. Perhaps the opportunity doesn’t feel right for you. If that’s the case, it’s best to let it go and keep your eyes on the horizon for what the Universe is bringing that is just right for you.

I hope you have a fabulous week ahead filled with positive vibes!

Monday #Meditation #Motivation #TarotReading

Those of you who follow Author Sue Vincent know she is facing death with an inoperable and incurable type of cancer. Her blog posts have been filled with so much wisdom. These words below made such an impact on me I had to share.

Today’s beautiful meditation is designed to help bring clarity to difficult situations and I found it to be effective. I hope you will too.

For this week’s Tarot reading, we have the Seven of Cups, Six of Wands and Ace of Swords. The Seven of cups is all about opportunities. There are all sorts of gifts in the seven cups, but as you can see, some are not gifts at all. So, you must be careful what you wish for and make your choices wisely. Sometimes the Seven of Cups can be about wishful thinking that is not grounded in reality. The Six of Wands follows with a representation of success, progress and possibly public recognition for work done well. It’s safe to say that if you make the wise choice in the first card, success is sure to follow. Aces always represent new beginnings of some sort. In the case of the Ace of Swords, it indicates a new inspiration or idea and encourages you to live your passion. I hope this reading sets the tone for an amazing week ahead for everyone. Careful what you choose, enjoy success and watch for new inspirations!!

Thank you for joining me!

Monday #Meditation #Motivation #TarotReading

Happy Monday, everyone. I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready to start another week. Today, I am sharing a short meditation from Jason Stephenson to help start your day in a positive way. Enjoy!

This mini-Tarot reading for the first week of March week starts off with two cards from the Major Arcana. The Chariot is all about willpower, determination, and strength. The Chariot calls on you to assert yourself and be courageous. I know for some, that comes easily. For me, asserting myself does not come easy, so I draw upon the strength of this card to help. It can also indicate travel, but with the pandemic still in full swing, not so sure that applies. The Temperance card reminds us of the importance of finding balance, practicing moderation, having patience, and keeping purpose firmly set in your heart. We round the week out with the Nine of Cups which symbolizes contentment, gratitude, and satisfaction. I can’t think of a better tone to start and end this week with.

Thank you for stopping by and engaging with Monday Meditation, Motivation and Mini-Tarot reading! I’d love to hear from you!
